The Russian Doll, Sharapova, Proudly Embraces Her Title as a Tennis Artist

(Sports news, tennis news) Former Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova created a new concept that is “tennis artist”.

Maria Sharapova, a Russian tennis player who won 5 Grand Slam titles, is considered one of the most notable players in the history of women’s singles tennis. After nearly 2 decades of professional tennis competition, the 1m88 tall tennis player has inspired many young players in Russia and around the world.

Sharapova considers herself more of an entertainer

Sharapova’s career was full of pride, but unfortunately was interrupted after the Russian star was banned for 2 years for testing positive for doping (banned substance) at the 2016 Australian Open. During the time she was banned from competing, Sharapova suffered a shoulder injury, which caused her to retire from her career in 2020.

Since then, Sharapova has been involved in many business activities. Most recently, the 5-time Grand Slam champion was invited to the main stage of Cannes Sport Beach 2023, where the former tennis player born in 1987 said many interesting things.

“I feel like when you’re an athlete, you form a connection with the fans. When I got a little older, I realized that at the end of the day, I’m an artist.

I don’t just compete to win, but to make an impact. When you have a bad day of competition, the psychology of the fans is equally bad.” Sharapova compared playing tennis to being an artist.

Sharapova continued to explain: “If I can turn the situation around and open up the opportunity to win, it also creates a positive mentality with the fans. There is a lot of pressure but in the end it is a It feels great when you can inspire others.”

Sharapova currently does not have many tennis-related activities. She spends time on family, business and accepting invitations to participate in events. “Russian Doll” is like an entertainment star, because she owns an Instagram page with 4.5 million followers and many other social networking sites.
