The shocking video was recorded by female tourist Lori Hespe during a whale watching tour in Monterey Bay, California, USA, on October 20.
While sitting on the boat, Lori Hespe discovered a Steller sea lion hunting. Not long after, the sea lion suddenly jumped out of the water and clutched a blue shark in its jaws.
The recorded image shows that the sea lion used its incredible strength to throw the blue shark into the air and then yanked it into the water to tear apart its prey and enjoy its meal.

Lori Hespe expressed shock: “I have never seen anything like this before in my life. I am truly shocked and amazed”.
She added that the attack lasted about three minutes before ending brutally.
A Steller sea lion can be more than 3 meters long and weigh more than 1 ton, giving it a significant strength advantage over most adult blue sharks, which are typically about 2 meters long and weigh nearly 206 kg.
Steller sea lions are the largest of all sea lion species, reaching up to 3.3 meters in length, males are 3 times larger than females. Sea lions are known to be opportunistic foragers, their food is fish, squid, and octopus.
Sea lions are one of the most fearsome predators in the water, in stark contrast to their fat bodies on shore. When hungry, it can tear apart a juvenile shark for food.
