This incredible scene shows a buffalo using its horns to launch its predator into the air and save its comrades from starvation.
This incredible moment was captured on camera by Ian Matheson, a 52-year-old man who was visiting the park with a group of tourists in Kruger National Park, South Africa. The man caught a lion being thrown five meters into the air by a buffalo, determined to save his friend.
Ian Matheson’s son, Oliver, said: “We saw two lion cubs stalking their prey and were excited to see nature in action, but nothing could have prepared us for what we see next.” “It seemed like the game was over, it really seemed like it was over.”
You see, the buffalo embarks on a daring rescue mission after the lion attacks a member of its herd. The lion bit the poor buffalo after silently stalking the buffalo for about 45 minutes.
“Then we saw two of the original herd come back to investigate and we really didn’t know what was going to happen,” the 17-year-old said. “It was crazy, I threw the lion about 5 meters into the air. I had never seen anything like it…we had never seen anything close to what we saw that morning. “We really feel honored to witness such a rare event.”
Tour participants witnessed the horrifying scene but could do nothing to save the poor buffalo. But when the buffalo seemed to be living its last minutes, one of its companions intervened. Because the lion was so focused on taking down its prey, it actually launched a surprise attack.
What was most surprising was that all the animals walked away from the encounter without serious injuries. There is perhaps only one exception: the lion’s wounded ego.
