Unveiling the Dream Team’s Half: LeBron and Curry Lead the Star-Studded US Basketball Squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics

The Paris Olympics will take place in 4 months and right now, the reigning men’s basketball champion, the US team, is in the preparation stage. From the list of more than 40 top NBA stars, the team’s leadership will have to find the last 12 official names to set foot in France next July.

While the US basketball team’s leadership seeks to shorten the list from more than 40 top NBA stars to 12 players officially participating in the 2024 Olympics, the framework of the “dream team – Dream Team 2.0” gradually appeared.

Reputable journalist Shams Charania has just informed about 7 players who have committed to participating in the US basketball team attending the Olympics, creating a high-quality “core” team filled with All-Star and All-Star players. NBA and MVP.

The seven names mentioned by journalist Shams include: Jrue Holiday, Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, LeBron James and Stephen Curry .

These will be the 7 players considered to be the initial skeleton of the US basketball team at the 2024 Paris Olympics (except in case of injury or other force majeure reasons).

Some players in the above group are expected to publicly confirm their commitment to participating in the Olympics. The Athletic website added that the US team has not yet finalized the official squad and will consider additional options in the near future.

Also according to journalist Shams Charania, two young stars including Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton are being seriously considered for inclusion in the official squad. This is the duo of players who played for the US team in the FIBA World Cup 2023 campaign.

Currently the owner of 4 consecutive men’s basketball gold medals at the Olympics, the US team is expected to announce the official squad at the beginning of the Playoffs period (end of April). The team will then reunite in early July, right after the NBA Finals.

One of the reasons why the roster has not been revealed is that the NBA season is still going on, which means the possibility of stars being injured or not in good condition still exists.

This is also the reason why the shortlist of 41 players was announced a few weeks ago, ensuring there is always a replacement spot in case the top options are injured.

According to the plan, the draw for basketball at the 2024 Paris Olympics will take place on March 20. The Olympics will then begin at the end of July.
