His 32 points in his second game against Michigan earned him the title of Southern Conference Freshman of the Year.

Being a point guard taught me early on that you have to make do with less than ideal circumstances. Adjust. Get creative. Experiment with a new direction, lane, move, or shot—find what works. Steve Curry After leading the Wildcats to the NCAA regional finals in March of his sophomore year thanks to his high-scoring exploits, Curry became a national sensation. Following his national leading performance of 28.6 points per game as a college junior, Curry was taken seventh overall by the Golden State Warriors in the 2009 NBA Draft.

Despite his diminutive stature and boyish appearance, Curry was able to defeat NBA opponents with his shooting and ball-handling abilities. Following the 2010 All-Star break, he went on to finish second in rookie of the year voting and averaging more than 22 points per game while playing guard. The United States Me𝚗’s Basketball Senior National Team, which won the 2010 World Championships, included him because of his talent. Tournaments hosted by Stephen Curry

Following his 2014 All-Star selection, Curry’s skills and popularity both took a significant leap. Being the top vote-getter in the 2015 All-Star Game, Curry captained an electrifying Warriors squad to an early 16-game winning streak alongside Klay Thompson in the “Splash Brothers” combination. Curry and the Warriors earned their first NBA championship since 1975 after defeating LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Finals.

With 24 consecutive victories in 2015–16, Curry accomplished the same thing to help the Warriors set a new NBA record with 73 victories. Once again demonstrating his dominance, the great guard completed 402 three-pointers while averaging 30.1 points per game. If the Warriors couldn’t repeat as champions, Curry knew his individual and team records wouldn’t matter. After suffering early-season injuries to his ankle and knee, Curry returned to form in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals, scoring a career-high 17 points in overtime to help his team overcome the Oklahoma City Thunder and advance to the next round. In Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals, the Cavaliers upset him 93-89, eliminating his attempt for a second consecutive title, after a punishing season.

The 2017 Finals saw Curry’s Warriors face off against LeBron James and the Cavaliers once again. In Game 5, Curry scored 34 points and Durant added 39 to help the Warriors win their second NBA title in three years. It was great and expected that Curry would win. He begged a friend to spare him a cigar after the Warriors’ 2016 defeat so he could light one up after their 2017 victory. Curry was shown lighting his cigar on NBA TV. “I’ve been patiently waiting for an entire year to light up this,” Curry said.

With Curry out for the year due to a medial collateral ligament (MCL) sprain, the Warriors were not as strong as they had hoped going into the postseason. Making a triumphant return in the second round, the legendary guard went on to beаt the New Orleans Pelicans and, going on to the Western Conference finals, the top-seeded Houston Rockets. In Game 1 of the fourth consecutive Warriors-Cavaliers Finals, Curry scored 33 points to lead his team to an overtime victory. After three games, the veteran guard scored 37 points once more to lead the Warriors to a sweep and their third NBA championship in four years.

Steven Curry Awarded Two Most Valuable Player Medals

In 2015, Curry led the league in thefts and set a new record for three-pointers with 286. He was named MVP for his efforts. After 11 players had won MVP twice, Curry became the first in NBA history to achieve it by unanimous vote in May 2016. I had no intention of changing the game forever. It was an unexpecteԀ turn of events, Curry said after being named MVP. “All I wаnted was to be authentic. For sure, it encourages the youth of today to value skill and the belief that one can always become better at basketball for the benefit of generations to come. It takes time and work. So that’s how I get here, and that’s also how I keep getting better.
