LeBron James finally made it to the 40,000-point mark in his glittering basketball career, but the shine was taken off his memorable achievement after his wife Savannah was seemingly left upset.
With the Los Angeles Lakers facing the Denver Nuggets on Saturday hoping to make it five wins in a row, the 38-year-old had his own personal goal on his mind.
With the 40,000 mark in his sights, he came up trumps in the second quarter with a scoop layup off the glass. He only needed nine points to reach the benchmark, and he comfortably surpassed that with 26 points in total. which was nearly on par with his 26.3 average.

It’s no surprise that his dedicated and beloved wife, Savannah, was present in the crowd for what would prove to be a career highlight.
But to her disappointment, Savannah wasn’t able to savor the moment with her man because rather than taking a moment to celebrate, the game continued as normal. She shared her feelings on Instagram with a sarcastic caption: “Because why didn’t the game stop,” followed by laughing emojis.
Clearly, she wanted to capture the moment of the six-time NBA champion making history. Unfortunately, the frenetic pace of basketball denied her that chance, but there is no doubt she was able to enjoy the moment after the game with LeBron.
It was a mixed bag for James, however, as he was unable to prevent the Lakers from going on to lose the game 124-114 to the Nuggets, leaving them 10th in the Western Conference.
It was only a year ago that James usurped the NBA’s all-time leading points scorer, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, by taking the crown from the NBA legend.
Before James came along, it was a title Jabbar held for four decades. But given his longevity in the NBA and consistent level of success, it may take longer than 40 years for another player to beat his feat.
The next highest active player on the list is Kevin Durant, with the Phoenix Suns star amassing 28,372 points in his career. Already at the age of 35, it may be out of reach for Durant to score another 12,000 at least to knock James off the top.
