The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback poked fun at himself with fans on social media
Even NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes falls victim to an unflattering camera angle.
The 28-year-old quarterback reacted to a still from The CW’s Inside the NFL footage from the Kansas City Chiefs’ locker room celebrations after their AFC Championship win that has since gone viral.
The image shows a shirtless Mahomes giving his Chiefs teammates a pep talk in the locker room after they secured their spot in the upcoming Super Bowl.
“Yoooo why they have to do me like that!?!?!?,” Mahomes wrote in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Wednesday morning, adding three laughing emojis and the hashtag, #DadBodSzn.
Quoting his own post on the app, Mahomes added, “Like I got kids!!!” and tagged the official accounts for the Chiefs, the NFL, and Inside the NFL.
The Inside the NFL‘s X account replied to Mahomes, “Elite in our book,” while ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller joked, “You and Jason Kelce doing more for dad bods than anyone in history,” referencing the Philadelphia Eagles star’s shirtless antics at the Chiefs-Bills game.
Miller added that Kelce, 36, and Mahomes were “Doing the lord’s work.”
Mahomes and the Chiefs will look to defend their reign as the NFL champions when Super Bowl LVIII kicks off on Feb. 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
The 2024 Super Bowl will be Mahomes’ fourth appearance in the big game for Kansas City, and he’s seemingly looking forward to visiting Las Vegas.
After the Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens 17-10 at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday, Mahomes logged onto X to celebrate the win with a GIF of Zach Galifianakis’s character from the movie The Hangover.
In the 2009 film, Galifianakis teams up with Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms for a wild and raunchy trip to the strip while celebrating a bachelor party. Chaos ensues, and the group is forced on a wild goose chase while searching for their lost friend.
Mahomes was active on X after the Chiefs’ win in Baltimore, also reposting a reporter’s photo of the shirts worn by the team’s defensive line in the locker room and a post by his teammate, linebacker Drue Tranquill.
“Big Red, T Swift, & the boys just tore your parlay up again,” Tranquill, 28, wrote on X after the win, referring to tight end Travis Kelce’s girlfriend Taylor Swift and head coach Andy Reid as “Big Red” in the post.
The Chiefs will now go to the Super Bowl for the second year in a row, after winning the Vince Lombardi Trophy last year.
