NBA players receive salaries of millions and tens of millions of US dollars to play basketball at the highest level, easily leading to injuries from training or collisions on the court.
But occasionally there are some isolated cases that lead to injuries to players that have nothing to do with basketball, the most recent example just happened in the NBA on the morning of December 28.
According to information from reputable journalists Shams Charania and Adrian Wojnarowski, dunk machine Aaron Gordon just had a rare accident at his home on Christmas.
Specifically, the 28-year-old striker of the Denver Nuggets was bitten quite seriously by… a dog. It’s unclear how the incident happened, only that Gordon suffered deep lacerations on his face and right hand (right on his dominant hand).
He was taken to the emergency hospital, where he was examined by doctors before receiving a total of 21 stitches in many locations.
The latest update is that Aaron Gordon has been discharged from the hospital and returned home to rest. ESPN added that the Denver Nuggets striker will have to spend some time away from the team to recover, both physically and mentally.
“He is temporarily fine. Obviously, this is an unpleasant and possibly scary experience ,” Nuggets head coach Michael Malone shared after the most recent practice session.
“The team will give Aaron as much time as possible to recover. We are a big family, so the whole team will always be together. I told the players to ask directly about Aaron regularly to help him have a better spirit.
Averaging 13.6 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, Aaron Gordon has been an important member of the Denver Nuggets team for many years. Right in the last Christmas series, Gordon just had a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds to help the defending champion defeat the Golden State Warriors.
Unfortunately, Gordon encountered the above rare incident right after the victory. Denver said the team will let the 28-year-old striker rest until he feels completely healthy.
“ We need Aaron to fully recover, both mentally and physically. We know how important he is but no one will rush Aaron back soon. I only added his name to the playing list when he was really ready “, coach Malone added.
Up to this point, the Denver Nuggets are still in high form despite facing many personnel losses.
This will be the second time Aaron Gordon has had to miss football this season, having missed 5 matches due to heel pain. All-Star defender Jamal Murray also missed 12 games with two different injuries to his hamstring and ankle.
However, the team led by Finals MVP Nikola Jokic had 22 wins in 32 matches, taking steady steps on the journey to defend the NBA throne.
