Off court, Sharapova has recently been spotted wearing flirty frocks from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, and Valentino. “Clean, simple lines and a sophisticated, powerful feel are the type of dresses I prefer,” says Sharapova, explaining that she’s recently switched how she shops. “I like to invest in key staples; I just got a new pair of white Current/Elliot jeans and a black Isabel Marant jumpsuit.” When it comes to accessories, she keeps things simple—not a tennis bracelet, per se, but just as streamlined: “I love my TAG Heuer Aquaracer watch and my Jennifer Meyer studs—the horseshoes are my favorite!”
After the Open, Sharapova is keeping a jet-set schedule, traveling to promote her Sugarpova line—there’s a pop-up at Bloomingdale’s through September 14, for instance—and she’ll be gearing up for the first Maria Sharapova & Friends tournament presented by Porsche and taking place in December at UCLA. “It’s a celebratory moment for me, but also prep for the 2016 Australian Open,” she says. “There are great players that will join me including Kei Nishikori, Madison Keys, Laura Robson, plus Karlie Kloss and Chelsea Handler who will add to the fun!” And as for her outfit for the big day? Like her strong serve, Sharapova’s sartorial ace is just as powerful. “An all-black look,” she says, “is a statement no matter where it’s worn.”
