She’s been training in Melbourne this week to prepare for an upcoming game, but tennis champ Maria Sharapova still had time to slip into a dress and heels for a glamorous event.
Sharapova attended the Porsche Women In Drive event in Melbourne yesterday in a monochrome summer frock and black point-toe heels.
To make her feel more at home, the event did have a miniature tennis court for the athlete to play around on.
The 26-year-old Russian native arrived in Melbourne after losing the Brisbane International final to Serena Williams.
Maria had not played since August before the Brisbane game, due to a shoulder injury.
But she’s preparing to get back into the hot seat in the 2014 Australian Open, which kicks off on Monday.
Also at the Porsche event was Australian TV presenter Sonia Kruger, who looked elegant in a below-the-knee black dress.
Despite her shoulder injury set back, Maria was named on Forbes Magazines list of business-savvy sports figures for 2013.
She was named the biggest-earning female athlete in the world with a $29 million income from mid-2013 to mid-2013.
Porsche is one of her sponsors that is responsible for her bank balance, as is her other big sponser, Nike.
She also launched a confectionery range in 2013, named Sugarpova sweets, which raked in $6 million for the star.
Sharapova is currently ranked World No. 3 by the Women’s Tennis Association.
