Maria Sharapova has just been sculpted into a wax statue by the famous Madame Tussauds museum in Hong Kong.
Sharapova became the first female tennis player to appear at the famous Madame Tussauds museum. The statue of “Russian Doll” is placed on par with former famous player David Beckham and former NBA player – Yao Ming. This is a work inspired by Sharapova ascending the throne at Rolland Garros to complete 4 career Grand Slams.
According to The Slice, the statue of the Russian tennis player is modeled after a situation where she is performing a forehand in a luxurious black dress once worn by the former world No. 1 in the final against Sara Errani.

Mr. Madame Tussauds – director of the museum said that erecting the statue of Masha, in addition to attracting tourists, also allows young tennis players to use it as an example of their desire to reach the top.
Currently, Sharapova is in California preparing to attend the Indian Wells Masters. In this year’s tournament, Sharapova is ranked number 4, behind Li Na, Radwanska and Azarenka.
