Who is the NBA’s greatest of all time? The GOAT debate has often divided fans, while some say it’s Michael Jordan, others pick LeBron James. For Magic Johnson, Jordan is the undisputed best of all time, but behind him, Kobe Bryant is the ‘second best’ according to Johnson.
During his appearance on NH ExperienceTV, Magic Johnson picked the Black Mamba as the best ever in NBA behind the undisputed Michael Jordan.
“You know, what Kobe meant to the game of basketball like worldwide, you know, and so uh, to me, offensively, he’s the second-best dude at that two three-guard, two two guard position, two small forward behind Michael Jordan,” Johnson said.
The former LA Lakers legend continued, “Regarding scoring, Kobe was virtually unstoppable, much like Jordan. His skill set, determination, and ability to perform under pressure made him one of the most clutch players in NBA history.”
While stats certainly point towards the fact that LeBron James has better numbers than Kobe Bryant for Magic Johnson the Black Mamba takes the crown behind MJ.
Bryant has won the NBA Championship five times, while James has won four titles. Infact, Magic Johnson isn’t even the first NBA legend to pick Bryant over LeBron. Dwayne Wade, a former teammate of the King himself picked the Black Mamba as the greatest of his generation.
“He was our Michael Jordan,” Dwayne stated. Nate Robinson also insisted that Kobe was the most complete player in the NBA behind Jordan, but he also credited LeBron James for being the superhuman that he is.
“Forget the stats, go try guarding that man for 48 minutes a game. And tell me he isn’t one of the greatest players ever,” said Gilbert Arenas while chipping in with his thoughts on the GOAT debate.
While the comparisons really never end, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant will both undoubtedly go down in NBA history as the best ever.
