With 36 titles under her belt, including 5 Grand Slam tournaments, and no less than 36 million dollars amassed in her career, Maria Sharapova is undoubtedly one of the notable figures in the history of women’s tennis. And if her end of career was unfortunately spoiled by her suspension for doping, the star’s aura and the public’s esteem for her remain.
The “anti-se.x” clause signed by Maria Sharapova’s partner
Born in the USSR, into a family with rather rigid morals, the former world number 1 has always worked with great seriousness and professionalism… or even a little too much! Indeed, while she was in a relationship with Grigor Dimitrov between 2012 and 2015, Sharapova trained with former tennis player Dieter Kindlmann as a sparring partner.
For those who do not know this player who is ultimately quite obscure on the circuit, having peaked at 130th place in the ATP in 2004, here is who he is:
In order to ensure that nothing goes wrong, and that Sharapova is not troubled either professionally or personally, the Russian’s clan made Kindlmann sign a contract prohibiting him from having sexual relations with her! It was the Swiss newspaper “Le Matin” which unearthed this crazy but very real information. The French media “20 Minute” reported this in May 2013:
As a sparring partner of the Russian player, Dieter Kindlmann has some privileges. But the former pro player who accompanies the world number 2 all over the world does not have all the rights. In his contract, the German player signed a clause prohibiting him from having sexual relations within the framework of his professional activities. The Swiss newspaper Le Matin reveals the subtleties of Kindlemann’s contract, which specifies that there is no risk of slippage.
“She is happy with her boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov. Maria is anything but a diva. She protects herself from the outside world, but she is very friendly with her colleagues.” Who care more than anything about their contract, apparently.
For the record, know that Maria Sharapova is now married to a British art dealer, Alexander Gilkes, and that she gave birth to her first child in 2022. Far from all the constraints of her past on an intimate level , the Russian is making the most of her retirement! In a way not so different from Roger Federer…
Discipline in high-level sport can sometimes go a long way, and the example of Maria Sharapova proves it. In any case, by chance or coincidence, the native of Niagan had her best years on the circuit during that period. We can therefore conclude that the contract was probably respected by Dieter Kindlmann and her!
