Los Angeles Laker star LeBron James shared his thoughts on social media about the NBA rumors about him.
Yesterday (May 1), a number of news sites published rumors that LeBron James was trying to refuse to extend his contract with the Lakers. Specifically, LeBron James may be looking to become a free agent, although he may not have any intention of leaving the Los Angeles Lakers.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, James intends to opt out of his contract and enter free agency. Windhorst identifies three possible motivations for James to consider this. First, he intends to pressure the Lakers to update the roster. Second, the superstar forward wants to see the team draft his son, Bronny James, who the Lakers are in good position to draft.
Third, if James opts out, he could get a multi-year deal with a no-trade clause, which would be a significant improvement over his current deal. However, Windhorst noted that James does not want to leave the Lakers at this time
This season, the rising legend is averaging 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game. He and the Lakers were eliminated 1-4 by the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the NBA playoffs. The Lakers still have a lot of work to do at the end of the season to give themselves a chance at a championship, and one of the things they need to address is the future of LeBron James.
Because of the uncertainty, there have been many rumors circulating online about his future. Immediately, James quickly stopped all the noise online. On his twitter page, this pitcher shared: ” I have seen and heard a lot of news about my future. I said it last night and I’ll say it again. I don’t know yet because I’m just thinking about spending time with family and friends! You’ll know, until then, ” James posted.
