During his professional basketball career, LeBron James has been the owner of many records in the NBA. This 39-year-old superstar has just conquered a new record by becoming the first basketball player in NBA history to conquer 40,000 points during his career.
The shot that marked LeBron’s 40,000th point was a left-handed basket at the beginning of the second half of the match when the Los Angeles Lakers hosted the defending champion Denver Nuggets on March 3. In that situation, LeBron overtook Michael Porter Jr. with his classic leg spin and successfully finished.
Facing the Denver Nuggets, LeBron James’s Laker lost 124-114. LeBron James personally contributed 26 points, along with 4 rebounds and 9 assists, but that was not enough to bring home the victory.

“Being the first athlete to score 40,000 points is great for me in this tournament. You just know the history, you know the greats of the past. The most important thing is always winning, I hate setting a record in a losing match. We played a good match, but couldn’t finish with a win. So I’m feeling bittersweet, but I enjoyed every moment on the floor ” – LeBron James said in regret.
After the game, Lakers coach Darvin Ham said: “So happy for him. It’s a great achievement. I wish we could have won this game. But I have respect for LeBron James. It’s amazing, LeBron’s incredible run continues today.”
