Despite being imprisoned in Russia and playing professional basketball, in an interesting backstory, Brittney Griner has attracted attention from fans for… looking like Patrick Mahomes‘ brother, Jackson.
Griner looks healthy one year on from being released from the European prisons following a long legal battle to ensure she didn’t find herself punished with a decade behind bars after customs officers found hashish oil on her suitcase in Moscow.

As an account celebrated her release on X.com, formerly Twitter, many fans took to the comments to declare she looks like the less famous Mahomes.
One user wrote, “That’s Jackson Mahomes.” Whilst a second added, “That this was Jackson mahomes for a second.”
A third said, “This ain’t Jackson Mahomes???” And a fourth concluded, “When did she become Jackson Mahomes?”
Jackson Mahomes was mostly known in the last year for being under legal investigation for sexual assault.
He reportedly kissed Aspen Vaughn at a Kansas City restaurant in February 2023 and after several court delays and four charges against his name, three counts of sexual battery were dropped after Vaughn refused to testify.
Jackson still faces a charge of misdemeanor battery, which he pleaded not guilty to, whilst his mother alleges he is completely innocent
Hashish oil is derived from cannabis, which is illegal in Russia and the nation had considered that Griner was attempting to smuggle/transport drugs throughout the country which could have resulted in 10 years in jail.
Furthermore, she could have been turned into a political prisoner had the Russians decided to leverage her against the Americans to gain favor in their ongoing war in Ukraine which began in early 2022.
Griner landed back on US soil a year later and has resumed her WNBA career marking a bizarre two years for the athlete who will be grateful she’s safe again.
