The outing came nearly two weeks after she was arrested for hitting a house with her car while allegedly driving under the influence — with her dog in the vehicle — near ex-boyfriend John Janssen’s home in Newport Beach, California.
On Oct. 27, TMZ reported that the Orange County District Attorney had formally charged Shannon with one count of DUI and one count of hit-and-run, which are both misdemeanors. Law enforcement sources told the webloid that Shannon’s blood alcohol content was .24% after the crash, which is three times the legal limit.
After impact, Shannon reportedly steered her car back into the road and drove away, then parked in the middle of the street and got out with her dog. TMZ reported that the “The Real Housewives of Orange County” star “tried to act like she was taking a walk when police arrived,” but cops weren’t buying it and arrested her.
Because Archie was with her, the Newport Beach Police Department’s animal control unit was at one point involved, Page Six reported. “We don’t have animal endangering laws like you would with children but we do have animal cruelty laws, so he’s going to look into that a little bit further,” Sgt. Steve Oberon of the NBPD told the New York Post’s gossip column.
When police detained Shannon, she asked that Archie be “dropped off at someone’s house to take care of [him] while she was dealing with her situation,” the officer added. (According to Page Six, that “someone” was her ex John.) Archie was not injured during the accident and he’s still in Shannon’s care.
On Oct. 9, TMZ reported that the Bravo reality star has decided to seek treatment and has enrolled in an outpatient behavioral wellness program that has an alcohol component.
