Despite retiring in 2022, Serena Williams’ love for the sport has not waned. The 23-time Grand Slam winner was recently captured catching up with her long-time pal Caroline Wozniacki at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Williams attended the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games with her husband Alexis Ohanian and daughter, Olympia, on Friday. Beyond the opening ceremony, Williams has also visited the Olympic Village and has been seen interacting with several athletes, one of them being her close friend Caroline Wozniacki. On Sunday, the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the International Tennis Federation posted a picture featuring the American, her husband Alexis Ohanian, and Wozniacki. Williams wore a white tracksuit, while Wozniacki wore a burgundy Denmark tracksuit.
Williams and Wozniacki share a long-standing friendship. In 2014, Williams was present at the finish line to congratulate Wozniacki and put a medal around her neck when the Dane participated in the New York City Marathon. Williams was also part of Wozniacki’s bridal train when she married NBA star David Lee in 2019 at Castiglion del Bosco in Italy.
While Williams was active on the WTA Tour, they faced off 11 times, with the American claiming 10 victories over Wozniacki. The Dane’s only victory over Williams came in the 2012 Miami Open quarterfinals
