Maria Sharapova was asked about the possibility of returning to tennis even though she has been retired for nearly 4 years.
Sharapova retired from professional tennis after the 2020 Australian Open. Since then, the Russian beauty has become a mother and she has not played any matches, not even exhibition matches.

Nearly four years have passed since Sharapova retired, but some fans still hold out hope of seeing the five-time Grand Slam champion return to action. A fan asked Sharapova: “What would motivate you to play a tennis match again?”.
Sharapova happily replied: “That’s really a difficult question. I don’t know the answer” and laughed.
Sharapova considers retiring permanently
In recent times, female players successfully returning to tennis after pregnancy has become a trend on the WTA Tour. In fact, Sharapova, who welcomed baby boy Theodore last year, was asked about the possibility of returning to tennis recently.
The Russian beauty responded on The Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast in September: “I don’t know how they do it, I don’t see that in my future. I became a mother about a year ago and I think this is one of the greatest achievements I have ever experienced.
“It was challenging but worth it because I also knew I enjoyed working, I was very ambitious. I always had big goals in terms of where I knew I had my roots in the business world several years into my career and I knew I wanted to take it to the next level and grow. However, I still want to return home and have this beautiful family,” Sharapova said.
