LeBron James explained that Bronny cannot call him “Dad” during professional activities, emphasizing a need for a different approach on the court. Outside the practice facility, their father-son dynamic resumes, but at work, Bronny must use other names.
LeBron made it clear that despite their father-son bond, the professional setting demands a different approach.
“He cannot call me ‘Dad’ in the workplace, once we leave the practice facility and the gates close, I can be ‘Dad’ again in the car, if we ride together and at home. But on the court, he’s got to call me something else—like ‘2-3,’ ‘Bron,’ or even ‘GOAT’ if he wants.” he said.
LeBron further explained that this rule is meant to create a professional environment where they can both focus on their roles without the added complexity of their family relationship.
“It’s easy for me because I’ve been calling him ‘Bronny’ for so long,” he explained.
“But it’s going to be an adjustment for him. We cannot have him running down the court yelling ‘Dad, push the ball!’ or ‘Dad, I’m open!’—that won’t work.” LeBron added.
