Kyrie Irving Suffers Uncertain Injury After Teammate’s Fall: Return Date Up in the Air

After a period of peace of mind with a pretty good performance to start the season, Dallas Mavericks fans have now turned into a state of worry when Kyrie Irving got injured.

The 1992-born defender had to leave the field midway through the match against the Portland Trail Blazers last weekend after an unlucky situation.

The ball happened in the second half when Kyrie Irving was fouled and fell to the floor. Before he could stand up, his teammate Dwight Powell also fell due to a collision with an opposing player.

As a result, almost his entire body weighing more than 110kg pressed on Kyrie’s right leg, causing the defender to appear extremely painful. Despite still trying to complete two free throws, Irving then immediately left the field and was taken to the nearest hospital for examination.

The initial scan had no specific results. But at the latest examination, MRI results showed that Kyrie had a slight bone contusion in the foot area.

It is unclear when Irving will be able to return to practice and play. Just know that he will be out of action for the Dallas Mavericks this week, including 2 home games (against the Lakers, Timberwolves) and 2 away games (against the Grizzlies and Blazers).

One positive piece of news for Dallas fans is that Kyrie Irving’s injury is not too serious. Bleacher Report journalist Chris Haynes further shared that the Mavericks star has escaped the worst scenario.

It’s unclear how long Kyrie Irving will have to miss time with this injury

Since the beginning of the season until now, Kyrie Irving has only been absent in 4 matches and has appeared 17 times. He averaged 23.0 points with 5.2 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game.

The combination between Kyrie and Luka Doncic is going relatively well. Dallas’ win rate is more than 61%, ranking 3rd in the Western rankings with 13 wins in 21 matches played.

However, ahead for Dallas will be a time without Kyrie Irving. Combined with a number of injuries such as bigman Maxi Kleber or defender Grant Williams, the responsibility will once again fall on Luka Doncic’s shoulders.
