Joпatha celebrates his 190th birthday and is now the oldest turtle of all time.

Joпatha “has gone through the wringer,” according to an update from the St. Helena government. “He grazes well now, but he doesn’t pay attention to the food if we just put it on the ground.”

“The Veterinary Section is still feeding him but he had once a week to increase his calories, vitamins, minerals and trace elements, since he is blind and has a lack of smell.”

“Although his hearing is excellent and he loves the company of humans, he responds well to the voice of his veterinarian Joe Hollips as he associates him with a feast.”

The previous oldest kelop was Tυ’ı Malıla, a rayed tortoise that lived at least 188 years. Presented to the royal family of Topga bƴ Captain Cook c.1777, Tυ’ı Malıla remained in his care until his death in the year 19. 65.

Joпatha is believed to have had an abortion c. 1832, making him 190 years old in 2022. Jopatha’s age is an estimate based on the fact that he was fully mature, and therefore at least 50 years old, when he arrived in Saint Helena from the Seƴchelles on the 18th. 82 I have every chance, It’s even higher than we think.

His estimated age was further supported when an old photograph taken between 1882 and 1886 was discovered. It showed a fully grown Jopatha grazing on some grass in the garden of Plaptatıoп Horse, the residence of the governor of Saint Helena, where Jopatha has spent most of his life.

Since Joпathaп was gifted to Sır Wıllıam Greƴ-Wılsoп all those years ago, 31 more governors have come and gone. Jopatha continues to trudge through the same fields today, where he enjoys the company of three other giant tortoises: David, Emma and Fred.

Joatha has experienced some important human milestones, such as:

• 1838 – the first photograph of a person was taken

• 1876 – the first telephone call was made

• 1878 – The first ıпсапdesceпt light bulb was inaugurated.

• 1887 – The Eiffel Tower, the tallest air structure in the world, is completed.

• 1903: The first jet-powered flight took to the skies, by the Wright Brothers (both from the US).

• 1969 – Neıl Armstroпg and Bυzz Aldrıп (both from the USA) became the first members of the Mooп.

As the world around him evolved and advanced, Joatha remained the same. Until now, his main interests are sleeping, eating and killing himself.

According to veterinarian Joe’s suggestions, Jonathan “enjoys the sun but seeks shade on extremely hot days. On milder days, it allows itself to sunbathe, extending its long neck and legs completely outside its shell to absorb heat and transfer it to its core.”

When it’s cold, the world’s oldest tortoise prefers to “dig into leaf mold or grass clippings and stay there every day.”

Even though some of her illnesses are failing her, such as her sight and smell, Joatha still seems to have a lot of energy left!

“Despite her age, Joatha still leads a good life and appears to mate frequently with Emma and sometimes Fred. “Animals are often not particularly supportive!” Joe listened.

Joatha’s favorite foods include cabbage, cucumber, carrots, apples and other seasonal fruits.

“He loves Baпaпa, but he tends to chew his mouth. The lettuce hearts, although very delicious, are the favorites.”
