Three years after the Cоvid-19 оutbreak fоrced a number оf elite US players tо miss the Tоkyо оlympics, the 2024 “Dream Team” will оnce again have a lineup full оf future Hall оf Famers and several оf the game’s mоst prоmising yоung players.LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, who missed the last two Olympics, will serve as the team’s mainstay.
The 39-year-old James has won a bronze (2004) and two gold medals in the past (2008, 2012).
James will be joined by his Lakers teammate Anthony Davis, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns, Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday of the Boston Celtics, Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers, Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers, and Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat.
The 36-year-old Curry will be competing in his first Olympic Games and will be the fifth player from the Warriors to represent Team USA in an Olympics.
Joel Embiid, the big man for the Philadelphia 76ers and current NBA MVP, will also be on the team. Embiid has chosen to represent the US in his first Olympics.Embiid had the option of playing for France or his own country of Cameroon.
Steve Kerr of Golden State, who guided Team USA to gold in the Tokyo Games, will be the team’s head coach in place of Gregg Popovich.
Before heading to Paris in July, the US team will attend training camp and exhibition matches in Las Vegas.
