Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova, two of the best female tennis players of all time, show somewhat contrasting personalities. Both had very different reactions after defeating their opponents at the 2019 Australian Open and witnessing tears of defeat.
The Williams sister, who had just become a noble mother, came to Tatjana Maria’s side when her “defeated general” sobbed right after the match. While hugging Tatjana, Serena sent the 31-year-old German tennis player words of encouragement while they both returned to their seats.
Looking back at the highlights of the match between Tatjana Maria and Serena Williams with the image of the Williams sister reassuring her opponent:
This is the debut marking the return of Serena Williams to the Australian Open arena after a year of absence. At the Australian Open in 2017, Serena won the championship despite being pregnant with her first child.
In complete contrast to Williams, Maria Sharapova did not show any sympathy for Harriet Dart, who was defeated by the “Russian doll” with a score of 6-0, 6-0.
Dart after the match appeared emotional and tears fell on the British female tennis player’s face, but even though Sharapova saw it, she did not react.
Sharing with the press after the match, she said she did not have time for those things.
“I’m sorry to say that, but I really don’t have time for that,” Sharapova said. “I just want to focus completely on this Grand Slam and I just got through the first round. I don’t want to disappoint. ”.
Maria Sharapova will continue to compete at 5:00 p.m. today (January 16), her opponent is Rebecca Peterson, a 23-year-old Swedish tennis player. Meanwhile, Serena Williams will face Eugenie Bouchard in the match taking place at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow (January 17).
