Bronny James Faces Setback at USC, Leading to Five NBA Teams Overlooking Him in Draft Selections

As the son of LeBron James, widely considered to be the greatest player of all time, Bronny James has a mountain to climb as a professional athlete. Despite a lackluster beginning to his time at USC, he has failed to contribute to his cause.

In his rookie season with the Trojans, the younger James has had a lackluster performance after suffering a heart scаre last summer. His averages in nine games and seventeen and a half minutes on the court are 5.2 points, 2.2 boards, and 1.2 assists. Even more significant is the fact that he went scoreless in each of his past two games, which he lost.

Intriguingly, Bronny James is reportedly considering entering the 2024 NBA Draft in the hopes of playing alongside his famous father, who has publicly stated his willingness to join the team that selects his son in the draft.

Even if teams get LeBron James in exchange for the 6-foot-3 USC guard, interest in him entering the NBA early might not be very great given his current trajectory.

Bronny James’s draft prospects are dim for the following five clubs:

There are five NBA teams that aren’t likely to be interested in drafting Bronny James. Hornets of Charlotte

With an 8-29 record, the Hornets are now in the Eastern Conference’s cellar and could use a pick to add immediate depth to their roster.

Even with All-Star LaMelo Ball and scoring machine Terry Rozier on the roster, Charlotte’s guard rotation might use some work. Is Bronny, though, the best top-10 pick for them? Possibly not.

At this point in his career, not even LeBron James would be interested in retiring to Charlotte.

Portland Trail Blazers, team number four

The Trail Blazers (10-29) are looking to restock their roster and may benefit from some youthful talent. With Anferneee Simons, Shaedon Sharpe, and Scoot Henderson among Portland’s abundance of young, gifted guards, Bronny James may find it challenging, if not impossible, to break into the starting lineup.

Even if LeBron’s son has NBA potential, the Portland Trail Blazers might be more interested in drafting a wing player like Cody Williams of the Colorado Rockies.

third place: the Washingtоn Wizards

Even though they’ve decided to start over this season, the Wizards have only won seven of their 39 games, just as Portland.

Washingtоn might use some help moving forward, but there’s good reason to think they might pass on Bronny James in favor of a player who can help them right away. That way, they can get back to being a respectable team in the league faster.

#2: The Spurs of San Antonio

Right now, the San Antonio Spurs are in the Victor Wembanyama period (7-32). The future of the team’s personnel is likely to be determined by this cornerstone.

Having stated that, Bronny might receive a late-round draught mock from the Spurs, particularly if LeBron James is lured to play with his son Wembanyama and coach Gregg Popovich in San Antonio to conclude his career.

It would be quite a sight to see “The King” playing with “Wemby” in the NBA, as he finally gets to realize his ambition of playing with his son.

It is unclear if Bronny will play for the Spurs, though, because of their strong backcourt already.

Rank one: Detroit Pistons

The Pistons, who now have the worst record in the NBA at 4-36, would absolutely prioritize acquiring top-tier talent if they were drafted in the first three spots in the following year’s draft.

Bronny James may not be able to find a place on the squad, which features gifted guards such as Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, and Killian Hayes, in addition to his inability to demonstrate top-tier qualities thus far in college.
