Venus Williams turned 43 in June this year and at this age, many tennis players have even retired for nearly a decade, some have moved on to coach the next generation. However, the former Wimbledon champion still competed and just had a victory over a top 20 player in the world, Veronika Kudermetova, in round 1 of the Cincinnati Open tennis tournament. She felt very comfortable.
“I feel very satisfied, playing tennis as long as possible. The time on the court is wonderful, I feel that atmosphere, the cheers of the audience or the joy of winning points. Everything is like the first days I learned about this sport” – Venus Williams shared.
At the age of 43, Venus Williams can only participate in major tournaments with a wildcard and usually does not advance too far. However, her desire to play tennis is truly admirable and sets an example for the next generations.
